As I mentioned previously, I read 13 books in 2010, reaching my goal of a book a month. I read Pride & Prejudice 7 times, as well as 3 other Austen novels (thanks to audio books), which I've been wanting to do for quite some time. I participated in the Gilmore Girls Reading Challenge with Liz, but unfortunately only reached 4 books out of the needed 5 and that included a viewing of BBC's Little Dorrit (movies count too). Even with all the variety, I found it hard to pick books I was actually interested in reading, and which I would have the time for if I could not find it in audiobook format at the library.
My least favorite book was either Phantom of the Opera, Wizard of Oz, or Alice in Wonderland. I am a fan of the musical version of Phantom, but had never read the book. I found the story to be a little confusing at parts and the Phantom character a bit less sympathetic than I expected. I did pretty much enjoy every other book, however. In 2011, I do plan to read a few more non-fiction books, starting with Anderson Cooper's "Dispatches from the Edge." :)
I am also participating in the MOHL Bible Blast with about 50 other women to read the entire Bible in 3 months. It's nice to have the accountability of others and it's been fun so far. Join us if you like!
Reading Goal for 2011: 15 books + the Bible
2 peanut butter bombs:
Good goals. I think the whole Bible should count as 66 books. I think I will sign up for the three month challenge. That sounds extreme and impossible but worth the time.
I agree, I will count it as 66! I believe it averages out to 45 minutes a day (plus some reflection/note-jotting time if you choose for maybe 60 min/day) which I think is pretty reasonable if not truly necessary in our 'Christian' lives. I devote that much time to other things much less consequential. I've really enjoyed it so far, though I am behind by a bit. The weekend should remedy that though. I'm working through the chronological list. Glad you are joining!
